Abigail Rhodes has sung all over the UK and beyond over the last 10 years. Born into a very musical family, her passion for singing was evident from a very early age. A choral scholar during her time at St Peter's College, Oxford University, she sang many roles in University productions, including Mabel in Gilbert and Sullivan's The Pirates of Penzance, Phyllis in Iolanthe, Susanna in a performance of excerpts of Mozart's The Marriage of Figaro and the voice of Agnes in a stage version of Agnes of God.

It was also during her time at university, that Abigail discovered oratorio and sang as soprano soloist in Haydn's The Creation at Wantage Festival, Mendelssohn's Hymn of Praise and Vivaldi's Gloria, both with Finham Choral Society in Coventry.

Whilst living in France, Abigail worked with baritone Jean-Philippe Courtis in the Théâtre Impérial in Compiègne. It was during her time living in Compiègne that Abigail cemented her love of German lieder and performed Schumann's song cycle, Frauenlieben und -leben. This and many of Schubert's songs continue to be favourites in her repertoire.

Since returning to England and finishing her studies, Abigail has sung extensively, both in concerts and in staged productions, as well as at functions and events. She has continued her connections with the Savoy operas, singing various lead roles, including Yum Yum in The Mikado and Elsie Maynard in The Yeomen of the Guard. She has developed longstanding links with choirs, orchestras and groups (including brass bands!) across the Midlands and is regularly invited to guest in concerts of all kinds across the region, as well as giving solo and ensemble recitals.

She continues to extend her repertoire, having performed Handel's Messiah, Haydn's Nelson Mass, and Mozart's Exsultate Jubilate, as well as many individual arias and songs in the last three years.

Recently, she was privileged to perform in front of 6000 people at the first ever Remembrance Service in the striking new Armed Forces Memorial at the National Memorial Arboretum, Alrewas.

Abigail recently recorded her first CD, Marble Halls, consisting of operatic arias and sacred works.

Abigail sings under the tuition of Norman Wright and became a Fellow of the London College of Music in 2005.

Based in Coventry, Abigail is married and has two young sons.
